Handmade wine to soothe the soul and warm the heart
Grown made and bottled on O'Donohoe's Certified Organic Farm, Berri, South Australia
This wine is described as luscious, expressing blackberry, licorice, spice and ripe prunus plums well integrated with chocolate nuances derived from French Oak maturation.
Full organic practices have been maintained on O'Donohoe's farm since 1986, with a polyculture of trees, vines, plants and creatures. We seek the fungal dominance of our soil and where we can encourage woody weeds such as old man saltbush which add to this dominance. We use a minimum of water and strive to keep yields below 2 tonnes per acre. Our grapes have small bunches and small berries, are hand picked and basket pressed. Just seeking out quality with much biodiversity.

"Michael O'Donohoe's vineyard's been certified Level A organic since 1990. Infinitesimal watering, an absolute maximum of two tonnes of fruit per acre and an obsession with maintaining a vineyard that's "a polyculture of trees, vines, plants and creatures" gives us a hearty, characterful, beautifully balanced living red with a bouquet of cosmetics and cream as much as wild live berries. Sinuous, lithe, perfectly tannic: it's a miracle"
"One of Australia's most respected wine writers, James Halliday, rated this wine among those to be "Highly recommended". Wines of great quality, style and character, worthy of a place in any cellar." He described it as, "Medium-bodied; very attractive blackberry, plum, spice and anise; fine, feathery tannins run throughout a lovely wine."
